Personal:

I have been running approx. 10 years. I started running in HS for X-Country and track. After high school, I took 1 year completely off and several were just leisurely runs a few times per week. The past two years, I became pretty serious about competeting. I am 24 years old. I am student in a doctoral program in Clinical Psychology. I hope to incorporate mental and physical health as a psychologist (when I finally finish school).

I Love Running, it keeps me sane!

Ran for 1:12:10... I took it easy so probably covered about 8.85 miles. I started at Morro Bay to Cayucous, about 45 mins on not compacted sand because there was a really high tide, plus strong winds. I took the pace easy, but it was not an easy run. But I got a good running tan:)

I ran my first full marathon this morning at the Long Beach Marathon. I went out kinda hard because I was worried my legs would peter out in the end. Which my legs did, after mile 21, my goal was just to finish. My legs and feet hurt so bad, I can barely walk right now. But it was all worth it...I feel so accomplished!

I placed first in my division, females 20-24. 36th female overall and 264th with both males and females. My finish time was 3:33:23 (8:09 pace). I qualified for Boston Marathon! There were about 3000 runners in the marathon.

Took my dog for short walk this morning and taught a 60 minute yoga class. My IT bands are extremely tight/sore. If anyone reads this and has some tips on marathon recovery, I'd appreciate any insight as Sunday was my first marathon.

still resting, I'm going for a short run tomorrow morning. I found a recover plan on Hal Higdon's website for the week post-marathon.

Mandatory rest day because of all my graduate classes are Thursday and fridays mornings.

The pictures from my marathon are done from during the race, I look like I was about to die... I didn't feel like I was going to until the end. And lots of the pictures were taken close to the finish line. I'll try post one on here later.

TGIF!

Began my run with 4 miles @ tempo, 3 miles about marathon pace, and last mile @ tempo. felt great! But the last 1.5 miles my IT-bands were somewhat sore, I'm guessing still from the marathon.

I ran at pretty fast clip early this morning... average 7:04 pace for 8 miles. I just felt like running hard. Felt really good, my it-bands are still a little sensitive. I need a foam roller.

+ Taught a Vinyasa Flow class - 60 minutes.

took it easy today... supposedly one is to reverse tapper post-marathon... which is what I'm doing. Plus my dang it-band is still kind tight, that is a hard place to stretch.

I think next week I'll move into higher mileage... if anyone reads this is 2 weeks of reverse tappering post-marathon sufficient, too much, too little?

Ran about 8.4 - 8.5 miles this morning. It was 1hr. 7 mins., not sure the exact distance. I'm in Paso Robles this weekend, so ran through a little different scenery, plus it was very crisp out in the morning. The side of my hip, which I think is the IT-band started hurting again around mile 5... I wondering if a massage would help?
